Research Methods Training Workshops

Research Training
The participating institutes have developed a jointly delivered 30 credit Research Methods module focused on the needs of first and second year research students.

Glasgow University
The module aims to:
  • Enable students to develop an in-depth understanding of the philosophies of information science, contemporary issues, and challenges for research in the discipline.
  • Provide students with an understanding of research processes and techniques of particular use within the discipline of information science, and to be able to apply them to their own research.
  • Encourage the effective presentation of findings in accordance with the best principles of scholarship.

The module is supported through a Moodle environment hosted by the University of Glasgow.

In addition to the Research Methods module each institute provides local training on writing for publication, presenting findings, use of content and data analysis packages, etc.
