Emerald Literati Award

Outstanding Paper Award Winner: Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2011

Group members Christine Rooney-Browne and David McMenemy received an Outstanding Paper Award for their paper entitled “Public Libraries as Impartial Spaces in a Consumer Society: Possible, Plausible, Desirable?” The paper considers the important issue of the impartiality of the public space occupied by the library and whether this role is in danger due to commercial influences. The full paper is published in New Library World 111(11/12), 455-467.

Their success follows on from fellow group members Steven Buchanan and Adeola Salako who received an Emerald Literati Network Outstanding Paper Award in 2010, and Noorhidawati Abdullah and Forbes Gibb, who were Highly Commended in the 2009 awards.
